P
atty Cobb Baker believes that the study of the voice in singing is the pathway to one’s soul. She believes that it is an exploration of self that can yield tremendous insight, far beyond the obvious benefits of “good technique.” Patty has been a student of voice since the age of 8 and has studied various vocal techniques and styles throughout her entire life. She began sharing her vocal experience in 1996 when she embarked on a career as a vocal coach with the Singers Workshop in Houston, Texas, apprenticing with the Workshops’ founder, Debbie Beinhorn, for one year. Since moving to Los Angeles in 1998, Patty has been working privately with students, and is the Director of Vocal Education for the Harborlites Chorus. She created and conducts the VOCAL GOLD Workshop for the Harborlites Chorus and has presented it for many other Sweet Adelines choruses; she has also compiled and shared her VOCAL GOLD teaching material with other choruses within the Sweet Adelines International organization. Patty serves as a member of the Region 21 faculty and, in addition to classes on all
aspects of vocal production, teaches classes on developing a chorus vocal education program,
developing music staff teaching skills, and creating a personal vocal improvement plan.
