In what area(s) do you want to utilize or develop your musical expertise as a member of the Regional Faculty?

I really enjoy helping individuals to expand their vocal and listening skills, then working those skills into a group/unit sound. Getting faculty training from International staff is a great way to add to the "toolbox" for the different learning styles of our members. When they sing well while they're having fun, they're more motivated to continue to learn.

Specialty Area(s):

Administration:  Communication, Desktop publishing, Graphic design

Music:  Analytical listening, Arm waving, Ear training, Quartet coaching, PVI's (conducting with chorus), PVI's (instructing musical staff), Riser placement, Sight singing, Tag singing, Vocal production

Chapter experience:

Board/Team member; director

Regional experience:

International experience:

Educational background:

Eight years of piano lessons, some college, technical schools for graphic art, ten years+ private voice lessons. Two SAI Director Seminars, IES 2006, Harmony University 2004, CDWI I & II (SPEBSQSA Director Training Classes)

Teaching experience:

No "official" experience - I do consider being a director a very important "teaching" job; I started making learning tapes in order to speed up the learning process and hope that they teach some skills indirectly.

Musical experience:

Barleysheaf Players in Exton. I was the one of the wives, the baker and a camel driver in a production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" way back in the 80's. Great fun to learn 16 songs with choreo and making our own costumes and putting it all together in 2 1/2 months for 11 shows. It put a lot of our Sweet Adelines routine in perspective, some good, some not so good.
